The 2-1-1/United Way Helpline has handled 4,455 tax-related calls since December 2009. In mid-February, UWCA funded partner Foundation Communities reported nearly 7,000 tax returns filed, totaling $17,476,930 in refunds. Earned Income refunds, totaling $6,751,098, made up 75% of the returns.

Director, Donor Engagement
Education and Expirence Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree
- Proven history of success in fundraising and development including major gifts
- Solid understanding of fundraising principles and practices
- Experience in budget preparation and expense monitoring
Skill Requirements:
Must be self- motivated, self-confident, goal-oriented. Systems and strategic thinker. Excellent communication and customer service skills required. Ability to work well with diverse populations and in a team environment.
Job Purpose and Scope:
The Director of Donor Engagement will align their work with current campaign strategies to coordinate and continue stewarding donors beyond one time interactions. The Director of Donor Engagement is responsible for building a robust mix of programming that engages donors in the work of UWCA, with a focus on leadership givers.
The Director of Donor Engagement will have the following priorities:
- Develop and execute strategies that foster sustainable individual relationships.
- Responsible for growing unique relationships with leadership givers recruited through the workplace and beyond.
- Performance is measured by (but not limited to) donor retention, dollars raised and number of new donors.
Essential Functions:
Under the direction of the VP, Resource Development:
- Leadership and Major Giving Management:
- Develop an annual stewardship plan for leadership givers around the work of UWCA
- Effectively coordinate leadership giving stewardship activities with current workplace giving strategies
- Design major gift programming that appeals to current and prospect donors and builds positive community recognition
- Works closely with the Marketing department to build effective donor communications
- Evaluate current processes to improve interactions with all donors
- Internal and Operational Responsibilities:
- Ensure that pertinent information is recorded into internal database
- Work with Finance and Information Systems to ensure all donor requests are resolved in a timely and appropriate manner
- Work with Senior Operations Manager, ensuring all customer requests are resolved in a timely and donor centric manner
Working Relationships:
This position has a high level of interaction with all United Way departments. Maintaining positive relationships with both internal and external customers is critical.

Marketing Communications Manager
Job Purpose and Scope:
The Marketing Communications Manager will work closely with the Marketing Team and Chief Operating Officer to create and execute internal and external marketing strategies, using all forms of media and communication to build, maintain and manage the reputation and activities of UWCA. This position is responsible for working strategically with Community Development and Resource Development to plan an annual marketing calendar that includes segmented marketing strategies and deliverables to meet the organization's community agenda and revenue goals.
The Marketing Communications Manager will lead online and social media strategies, working closely with the Information Services Team to develop and execute online strategies and content. This position will work very closely with vendors and other partners to meet marketing and organizational objectives.
What the role will accomplish:
- Create and manage clear and consistent messaging to increase brand relevance.
- Present and maintain a positive public image of United Way Capital Area.
- Relieve some team members from internal and external message creation and execution so they can focus on their core competencies and increase overall effectiveness.
Essential Functions:
- Client services:
- Manage relationships with vendors and key staff contacts to ensure quality of printed materials, photo and video materials, written copy and other pieces.
- Assist in creating training and tools to incorporate staff outside the department in key initiatives and projects.
- Maintain editorial calendar of organizational initiatives as well as community opportunities, press clippings, and other relevant materials.
- Help with strategic planning of marketing campaigns, including project management, setting deadlines, and measuring effectiveness.
- Print and web design:
- Design, develop and write various collateral materials including brochures and campaign material, print and web ads, web copy, presentations, brochures, speeches and other marketing collateral as necessary.
- Provide leadership in exploring new, innovative opportunities for printed and web design pieces.
- Assist in improving the user-experience for key audiences on organization's website, including branding, key messages and general look of the site.
- Write content for website, including regular blog posts, and strategically develop copy for different audiences.
- Audience segmentation:
- Write news releases, media alerts and talking points for media.
- Serve as media contact for certain projects.
- Collaborate with team and organization to integrate a strategic media plan into other campaigns.
- Crisis communications:
- Assist with integrated crisis communications for disasters, including wildfires and hurricanes.
- Handle video and photography duties as needed.
- Analyze marketing metrics and provide status reports.
Education and Experience Requirements
- BS/BA in English, Journalism or Public Relations preferred
- 3+ years' marketing and PR experience
- Writing experience required and media experience preferred
- Experience with design for print and electronic media required including but not limited to Adobe Creative Suite including Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator
- Must have social media and Web site content management experience. Knowledge of Facebook, Twitter, You Tube, required. HTML preferred, but not necessary.
- Exceptional writing, editing and proofreading skills. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills; must well-organized and able to set priorities under pressure. Strategic thinker with excellent project management skills. Accuracy, timeliness, and attention to detail are essential.

2-1-1 Information and Referral Specialist
2-1-1 Texas provides telephone-based information and referrals to community organizations and health and human service agencies in a 10-county area of Central Texas.
Job Description:
Assess callers’ health/human service needs and make appropriate referrals, provide advocacy for callers, assist with special community collaborations in non-profit call center environment.
Job Requirements:
Excellent communication, problem solving and listening skills, able to multi-task, open to structure and direction, professional, detailed oriented, ability to speak with callers over the phone, customer service focus, and basic knowledge of Windows-based software systems. This position requires a high level of empathy and sensitivity to all incoming inquiries. Regular and punctual attendance is required in this job. Bilingual Spanish required and three years related work experience and college degree preferred.
