2-1-1 Texas is the access point for a number of community programs, including Central Health healthcare navigation, Insure-a-Kid medical coverage, free tax preparation assistance, and the Summer Nutrition Program.
Central Health Healthcare Navigation
Central Health partners with United Way Capital Area to provide pre-eligibility screening for Travis County healthcare programs. For more information, call 512-978-8130 or visit the Central Health Web site.
Insure-a-Kid
Insure-a-Kid partners with United Way Capital Area to provide screening for CHIP and children’s Medicaid. For more information, call 512-324-CHIP or visit the Insure-a-Kid Web site.
Free Tax Preparation Assistance
Foundation Communities partners with United Way Capital Area to provide free income tax preparation to qualifying residents of the greater Austin community. Foundation Communities recruits volunteer, IRS-certified tax preparers.
Summer Nutrition Program
The Summer Nutrition Program is funded through the U.S. Department of Agriculture and run by the Texas Department of Agriculture. During the summer, students who normally receive free or reduced lunch are able to go to select sites for a subsidized meal. In some cases, a child can receive both lunch and breakfast.
