VOLUNTEER

The Tocqueville Society honors individuals or couples who invest $10,000 or more annually in our community through United Way Capital Area. Membership affirms leadership and commitment to Central Texas by uniting a growing number of civic-minded individuals who together provide what matters to Central Texas.

The Tocqueville Step-Up Program is an opportunity for major donors to increase their gift to the next level over a three-year period while being recognized at the Tocqueville Society membership level. Recognition includes all Tocqueville Society benefits in the first year of commitment. Now is the vital time to demonstrate leadership and make a commitment that will benefit others for years to come.

With the 2008 Tocqueville Step-Up Program any individual or couple qualifies to be a Tocqueville Society member if they sign up for the 3-step pledge program to:

  1. Donate $5,000 to UWCA in 2008-2009
  2. Donate $7,500 to UWCA in 2009-2010
  3. Donate $10,000 to UWCA in 2010-2011

Leadership Giving Impact

I’m Peg.

Last year, while on leave from my job, I found myself with more free time. I decided I wanted to get more involved in community activities. I attended the fall meeting of the United Way Women's Leadership Council (WLC). That particular meeting happened to feature a speaker who talked to us about child well-being and the state of childcare in the city.

The presentation moved me deeply, and I became interested in improving the quality of childcare in Austin.
