Women's Leadership Council Member Profile:
Micah Semmelmann

How did you find out about WLC?
Jennifer Foster brought me with her to show me the impact and ties that this great group of women had on the community. I was hooked almost instantly.

Why did you join WLC?
I was mentored and encouraged to create a network of diverse women with ties to the community in which I live. The WLC presented a great opportunity to engage with the community and create a strong network of women that had a heart for service focusing on one of my passions- children.

What was your favorite WLC event?
The presentation in which the ladies of the WLC from Iowa came and gave an in-depth outline of their SB6 program. The research was so compelling I decided to join the WLC that day and began my journey to give back and learn amazing lessons in the process.

What impact do you hope to make on the Austin community?
I hope to make a positive impact that helps change the lives of children for the better that is sustainable and repeatable for those engaged.

What was your first job?
Oh geez, the sunglass hut in the Pasadena Town Square Mall. So cheesy but learned all the things you weren’t supposed to do so thankfully got that out of the way before I started my “real” jobs.

What is your favorite taco joint in Austin?
I think I have to go with my college favorite for the memories-Tamale House #3. $3 gets you 3 tacos, beans and rice. No AC but great food and authentic Austin scenery ;)

When you aren’t working you are...
Playing with my wonderful kiddos on our farm.

Are you a native Austinite? And if not, where are you from?
I came from a small town outside of Houston (Deer Park), but got here as soon as I could!

What is your favorite vacation spot?
Any place with a beach and a cold beverage- love the ocean and the sun!

What advice can you give to other women looking to get involved?
There is no time like the present to make a great impact on those that need it the most. The result is reciprocal, as it ends up impacting you as much as those whose lives you touch! Are you ready to start living/giving today?!
