Hospital Visitation to the Parents of Newborns

Supports new parents through hospital visits, follow-up phone calls, parenting classes, and support groups during the first days and months after the birth of a child.
Providing agency: Family Connections

Home Visiting

Home visits to vulnerable families to improve basic parenting skills, screen children for developmental delays, help parents establish regular visits with health care providers, and support school readiness.
Providing agencies: Any Baby Can Child and Family Resource Center, AVANCE, Communities In Schools

Direct Childcare Supplements

Supplements to eligible, non-profit early childhood care and education centers who have met the quality standards set by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). The amount of supplement is tied to the number of low-income children served by the center.
Providing agencies: Ebenezer Child Development Center, Faith Presbyterian Child Development Center, MainSprings Schools, Open Door Child Development Center, SafePlace Child Development Center, Trinity Child Development Center

Social Emotional Collaboration

On-site mental health consultation focused on children, parents, and early childhood teachers for child care centers serving vulnerable children and families.
Providing agencies: Austin Child Guidance Center, YWCA

Parent Education

Delivery of evidence-based parenting education on elementary school campuses located in Hays and Caldwell counties.
Providing agency: Communities in Schools

Play and Learn Groups

Free weekly sessions for low-income families (parents and children) will be offered in two southeast Austin elementary schools.

YOUTH EDUCATION

Child Advocacy / Mentoring the Middle

At-risk middle-school-aged youth are paired with CASA volunteers who address educational, medical, legal, and therapeutic needs.
Providing agency: CASA of Travis County

Hispanic Mother/Daughter Program

Connects mother-daughter teams with mentors and tutors, holds conferences on personal and academic success, offers counseling, conducts ESL classes for mothers, and provides educational counseling.
Providing agency: Junior League of Austin

Project Connect

Shepherds youth from 7th grade through high-school graduating, filling in gaps and finding resources to make college possible.
Providing agency: Breakthrough.

Healthy Choices

Comprehensive approach to teach middle school youth healthy behaviors-including alcohol abuse prevention, nutrition, teen pregnancy prevention, etc. Services almost 3,000 youth across 11 schools in Central Texas.

REAL Space

Program to help middle school youth make good life decisions. Includes mentoring, volunteer projects, communication techniques, organized family events, etc.
Providing agency: Lifeworks

School Success

This program provides after-school academic counseling-including tutoring, study skills training, academic coaching, and family conferences.

Summer Bridge

A summer-long program to help low-income 7th and 8th graders avoid the academic "summer slide" typically experienced by low-income students, with the ultimate goal of enrolling students in college preparatory classes.

Boys and Girls Club Programs

After-school (during the school year) and all-day (during the summer) programs that address leadership development, education and career counseling, health and life skills, fitness and recreation, etc.
